Visiting from the U.S.? Here’s Everything You Need to Know!

Planning a springtime day trip or weekend getaway to Canada? If you’re heading over the border, Sarah Grey Pick Farm is a must-visit destination and we’ve made it as easy and welcoming as possible for our American visitors! Here’s a roundup of everything you need to know before you make the drive.

Worth the Drive, No Matter the Distance

Whether you’re coming for a few hours or staying for the weekend, our tulip fields offer an experience like no other. We’re an easy and scenic drive from several U.S./Canada border crossings. Tulip season is short (only about 3 weeks, give or take) but oh-so-sweet, with our opening day scheduled in for Friday, April 25th!

Pro tip: Plug us into Google Maps for the best directions. Our address is 1415 Balfour Street in Fenwick, ON – right off of Highway 20.

Helpful Tips for Cross-Border Visitors

Here are a few practical reminders to make your trip even smoother:

  • We’re in Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) – same as New York State.

  • Dress for the weather! Tulips shine in the sun and stand proud in the rain.

  • We have portable washrooms and picnic areas, so stay and enjoy as long as you would like.

  • Charge your phone on the drive – there will be photo ops everywhere!

No Canadian Cash? No Problem!

We accept a wide range of payment methods at the farm, so there’s no need to visit an exchange counter or ATM:

  • Interac Debit
  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • JCB
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay

Just a quick heads up: your bank may apply exchange rates or small fees, so it’s worth checking ahead.

Bringing Tulips Home with You? Here’s What to Know

Thinking of crossing the border with a beautiful bouquet? According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), cut stems are allowed into the U.S., though they may be subject to inspection.

  • Give your bouquet a quick look to check for any bugs before heading back – we’re an outdoor farm, after all!
  • Clean stems typically pass inspection with no issue.
  • We sticker all our bouquets with our logo, making it easier for CBP to verify where they’re from.

Plan Ahead for a Smooth Border Crossing

We’re just a short drive from many Niagara Region border crossings, but travel times can vary based on the day and time.

  • Check real-time crossing updates before you leave
  • Plan for a little buffer time, especially on weekends or during rush hour
  • Don’t forget your passport and ID, you’ll need them to cross the border

We can’t wait to welcome you to the farm. If you have any questions before your visit, feel free to message us on social media or email us at info@sarahgrey.ca. Tickets can be purchased on our website, or at the gate for $3 more per ticket.
